Jo Ward, admin for the Women and Girls section has sent us this... 'A fantastic evening yesterday for Ely Tigers Women and Girls. We headed to Cambridge Rugby Club to meet World Cup Winner Rachel Burford for a training session. The pitches were filled with players of all abilities and experience learning new skills, practicing skills and above all having a great time playing rugby together. Thank you to Cambridge Women's Rugby for the invitation to take part!'
Tracey Chapman, a member of the Women's XV also added... 'Last night the Ely Tigers ladies headed to Cambridge Rugby Club to train with Rachel Burford, Head of Women’s Rugby for the Rugby Players Association who played for Saracens, Harlequins and represented England 84 times. The session focused on ball skills, scanning, anticipation, awareness, speed, support, movement and finished with some touch rugby games applying the skills to the game. Scored 2 tries so buzzing. Rachel was lovely and I don’t think anyone wanted to leave. It’s been nearly 30 years since I pulled on a rugby jersey and still loving it. We just need more ladies to grow in Ely so why not join us. Rugby for all!'
Our Girls section accepts girls from school years 6-13, and they train on Wednesday evenings and train/play fixtures on Sundays.
Our Women's side train on Wednesday evenings, and the sessions are open to all, no matter your previous rugby experience.
