START OF COMPETITIVE SEASON POSTPONED

The RFU has announced that the start of the competitive season for all senior and age-grade rugby will be postponed, due to the ongoing dry weather, concerns around pitch conditions and clubs’ readiness to safely return to full-contact rugby.

1st XV…
Our opening 2 league fixtures will be postponed and rearranged for a later date.
Diss (A) moves to 10/10
Wisbech (H) moves to 28/11
Fenland Barbarians 2nd XV…
The planned pre-season festival will unfortunately be cancelled.
Age Grade Rugby…
All age-grade fixtures scheduled for 20th September will be cancelled or postponed, with any rearranged dates to be confirmed.
It’s not all bad news though!!
Training Continues…
Training is still permitted across all age groups, with the appropriate precautions taken depending on pitch conditions, temperatures and other factors.
RETURN 2 RUGBY EXTRAVAGANZA…
Our Mini & Youth Return 2 Rugby Extravaganza on Sunday 6 September WILL STILL GO AHEAD! ?? All necessary precautions will be taken though.
Senior Friendlies…
Senior friendly fixtures are also still permitted, subject to pitch conditions. We’ll provide updates on any fixtures as and when they are confirmed.
We appreciate that aspects of this decision will be frustrating for players, coaches, parents and supporters who are eager to get the new season underway.
However, given the exceptional conditions we’ve experienced this summer, we agree that it is a necessary decision, with player safety and welfare coming first.
The competitive rugby may have to wait a little longer…
But the Tigers journey towards the new season continues. ???
