Ely ladies (Tracey Chapman, Sam Collins-Shirley, Steph Johnston, Kat Pohl, Pia Sargent, Clare Simpson and Gemma Walker) travelled to St Ives today and joined Cambridge 2s as part of the inner warrior series.

During the first game against St Ives Gemma came on at half time, Sam passed the ball to Tracey who popped the ball to Gemma who ran from the half way scoring an impressive first try for the Barbarians side. Clearly having a taste for the try line, Gemma scored a second try, but this time in more traditional forwards fashion, pushing through a line of defenders from a ruck close to the try line. The final result was 10-12 to St Ives. Such a close game well done ladies.

Cambridge 2s/Ely played back-to-back games with the next game against March/Biggleswade/Cantabs. March/Biggleswade/Cantabs played well and won the match. It was a great experience with lots of firsts for Ely; Sam played scrum half, Tracey second row, Gemma played in the backs and Clare played number 10.

Unfortunately, the final game against St Ives vs March/Biggleswade was stopped due to an injury to a March player. All the medics and coaches were amazing and we wish you a speedy recovery.

It was a great experience with Cambridge 2s keen to buddy up next time. To top the day off Gemma Walker was awarded woman of the match and Kat Pohl was awarded forward player of the match. Well done Ely ladies.
